Introducing the Ask-AI Chat Tab š¤
We're thrilled to release the new Ask-AI Chat Tab, designed to transform the way you interact with Ask-AI. The Chat Tab provides users with an enhanced conversational interface to ask GPT-like questions and receive information from both general world-knowledge and internal company-specific knowledge. Overview
Accessing the Chat Tab
- Open the Ask-AI extension on your device
- Click on the "Chat" icon located at the bottom right of the interface
Starting a New Conversation
- To initiate a new Chat āsessionā, simply start typing your message to Ask-AI in the āWhat do you have in mind?ā box
- To erase your conversation and initiate a new one, simply click on the pencil icon at the top right corner of the Chat Tab
Understanding the Chat Tab Functionality
The Chat Tab operates with a Large Language Model (LLM) that integrates with your internal company-specific knowledge and general world-knowledge, offering two key functions:

Conversational Interactions:
Explore topics in greater depth by asking follow-up questions, seeking clarifications, or even requesting summaries of responses. Youāll experience more fluid and intuitive conversations tailored to your needs. -
General Knowledge Queries:
Use the Chat Tab like you would with ChatGPT to ask questions based on a broad range of public knowledge. While it doesn't perform real-time web searches, it pulls from an extensive database of information available up to its training date.
Tip: When responses are based on your company's internal data, youāll see an attribution label so you know exactly where the information comes from. If no attribution is shown, the response is from Ask-AI's general knowledge base.
To get the best experience, make sure you're using the latest version of Ask-AI. Hereās a quick guide on how to check and update your version.
Ask vs. Find
The most common scenarios for searching for information in Ask-AI are the Ask vs. Find scenarios:
Ask = A user posing a natural language question. For better experience, please direct your questions to the Chat Tab.
Find = A user seeking an article, ticket, document, etc. For quick link retrieval, please use general keyword searches in the Search Tab for optimal results.
Important Limitations
- Complex calculations or queries requiring more extensive data (SQL) may not be fully supported
- All data sources are currently utilized when using the Chat Tab, but future updates may allow users to control and include/exclude which sources are used
- While Ask-AI provides vast information similar to ChatGPT, it may sometimes offer inaccurate public general knowledge. We encourage you to interact with the model, correct it when necessary, and refine responses through ongoing engagement
Troubleshooting Tips
- Donāt see the Chat Tab? Please ensure you have the latest version installed. You can follow this guide
- If the Chat Tab does not provide a satisfactory answer, consider refining your question or asking for clarification within the chat
- For complex inquiries that the Chat Tab cannot handle, try the Ask-AI Search Tab as well. If no satisfactory answer was found, please consult with your other resources
Supplementary Information
- The Chat Tab is designed to optimize queries behind the scenes, potentially providing more efficient answers than the original Ask-AI Search Tab
- Future updates may include additional tools for the Chat Tab, such as: calculators, the ability to look at more than 5 documents, and enhanced understanding of domain-specific terminology
